ROSSO TERRE SICILIANE IGT
This wine is born from Sicilian volcanic soils, from smoked grapes.

INSPIRATION
Sicily, iconic and warm island, home of Etna, one of the most famous volcanoes in the world. Fumu is inspired by its fumes and peculiarities.

CONSUMER SEGMENT
Wine lovers/pioneers and “new wine concept” hunters.

BRAND
Easy name to pronounce, immediate and recognizable: in Sicilian dialect the meaning is smoke.

DESIGN
Iconic and modern reinterpretation of one of the main Sicilian artistic creation: Majolica tiles. The puff of smoke that characterizes the label is part of the logo and the link with the brand and the winemaking method.

WINE STYLE
Intense and easy to drink at the same time, hints of smoked grapes in the finish.

SICILY REGION
Sicily, the “Land of the Sun,” has a Mediterranean climate along the coast, whereas in the inner hilly lands, the climate becomes more continental with moderately cold winters and hot summers.

VINIFICATION: Grapes are handpicked upon reaching 19/21 Babo degrees and placed in 2/3 kg drying crates. They are then stored, for about 10 days, in ventilated rooms with controlled temperature and humidity. In these rooms, kilns are lit, small slow burning and flameless combustion ovens, fueled with disused aging barrels that produce smoky clouds that permeate the premises. At the end of the ten days the grapes are smoked and have acquired a natural and refined smoky finish. After the manual destemming of the berries, the vinification process begins with the crushing, maceration and alcoholic fermentation of the grapes at a controlled temperature of 26/28 ° C for approximately 12 days. The malolactic fermentation is completed. Lastly, 30% of the wine is aged in French and American wood barrels.

TASTING NOTE
Garnet red with ruby edges.
Intense and generous, with aeration the initial scents of ripe red fruits give way to tertiary aromas of smoky grapes.
Its full and balanced body envelops the palate. Tannins are velvety, soft and perfectly integrated with the spice sensations of the long and persistent finish.
It pairs perfectly with aged cheeses and cold cuts, enhances roasted or stewed meats but it’s also perfect for sipping on its own.
